Accommodation Terms & Conditions.
Payment Options
If you choose to pay the first night of any amount of nights you will be charged the first night at the one night rate plus the other nights at the correct rate. For example if you book 3 nights and choose to pay the first night upfront you will pay the first night at the one night rate. This leaves 2 nights to pay at check in which will be charged at the one to two night rate. If you want to get the 3 night deal which is a little cheaper per night please select the "pay in full" option. Similarly if you book 7 nights, you will pay the first night at the one night rate. This leaves 6 nights to pay at check in which will be charged at the 3-6 night rate. If you want the 7 night rate which is cheaper again please select the "pay in full" option.
If you choose to pay 50% now and 50% 30 days prior to arrival the total cost will be calculated. 50% will be charged now and the remaining 50% charged 30 days before. If you book and choose the 50% option and your arrival date is less than 30 days away we will charge in full.
If you want the best deal than "pay in full" is our recommendation.
First Choice & Second choice for Location.
We have two properties, Surfside Bondi Beach and Surfside Coogee Beach. Sometimes one is full and the other has spaces and vice versa. Therefore on our booking form we have a first & second choice for location, the choices being Surfside Bondi Beach and Surfside Coogee Beach.
If you only want to stay at Surfside Bondi Beach then make 1st choice & 2nd choice Surfside Bondi Beach, the same for if you only want Srfside Coogee Beach, make 1st choice & 2nd choice Surfside Coogee Beach, easy!!
Now if you want Surfside Bondi Beach but will accept Surfside Coogee Beach if Surfside Bondi Beach is full then select 1st choice as Surfside Bondi Beach and 2nd Choice as Surfside Coogee beach. We will process the booking at your first choice if available and if not will process the booking at second choice. We wont email you to check as often the delay results in no availability at either, if you dont want the second choice then dont give us the option, easy!!
Similarly if you want Surfside Coogee Beach but will accept Surfside Bondi Beach Beach if Surfside Coogee Beach is full then select 1st choice as Surfside Coogee Beach and 2nd choice as Surfside Bondi Beach. We will process the booking at your first choice if available and if not will process the booking at second choice. We wont email you to check as often the delay results in no availability at either, if you dont want the second choice then dont give us the option, easy!!
First Choice & Second choice for Rooms.
Very similar to above, if you want something specific and wont accept any other alternative then make both 1st and 2nd choices the same. If you make for example 1st choice as small dorm and second choice as large dorm, you will of course get the 1st choice if available otherwise you will be charged the 2nd choice. We wont email you to check as often the delay results in no availability for either choice, if you dont want the second choice then dont give us the option, easy!!
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation policy changes throughout the year so each booking we process will be emailed a confirmation email. This confirmation email will explain the exact cancellation policy for your booking. THIS APPLIES TO ANY BOOKING MADE THROUGH ANY WEBSITE OR AGENT OR IN PERSON.
We do not refund for nights not used.
We do not refund any amount paid for date changes, no shows, late arrivals or our accommodation is not what you expected.
If you leave Surfside early for any reason without any notice of any kind we do not refund. If you have a problem please make contact with us. Our contact details are on office shutters, at front door, in phone book and on internet and on our website, please do not walk away and then ask for a refund. Allow us to fix any problems or offer room change(subject to availability)
If you leave Surfside before your specified departure date you cannot receive a refund on any payments or transfer them to another person. You must inform us that you have left otherwise we consider your bed/room available. If you give us no indiaction of your presence at Surfside we have to consider that you and anyone with you has departed and you do not want the bed/room. The fact that a key is not returned to us is not an indication of your presence. We do not refund in this situation.
Regardless of deposit paid such as 1st night, 50% or full payment, if you do not arrive by 8am THE NEXT DAY after the arrival date you have requested we consider the booking cancelled and we do not refund any amount you have paid or credit you nights for the future. Please be communicative if you intend to arrive later than originally requested.

If you phone in a cancellation please note date time and member of staff you are talking to. Please try call during Surfside business hours (8am to 1pm & 5pm to 8pm) as we can't process cancellations whilst in bed or asleep or whilst surfing.
Airport Shutlles
If you request an Airport Shuttle we will process the booking, debit your debit/credit card the agreed amount & email you the Airport Shuttle voucher. You must print this voucher out as it is the voucher the driver expects instead of money. The driver will want to get paid if you dont have the voucher to give him. Surfside will not refund you the money in this situation.
If you cannot print the voucher email or call us and we will try to help. Please call during our office hours listed above.
If your plane is delayed and the last shutlle of the day leaves we are unable to refund you but will work hard to get you alternative transportation.
Early Departures
If you leave Surfside before your specified departure date you cannot receive a refund on any payments or transfer them to another person. You must inform us that you have left otherwise we consider your bed/room available. If you give us no indiaction of your presence at Surfside we have to consider that your have departed and do not want the bed/room. The fact that a key is not retunred is not an indication of your presence. We do not refund in this situation.
Security Deposits
We ask for a Security Deposit (commonly called a key deposit) from each guest. if you do something stupid, cause damge or do something we consider dumb we will not refund the deposit.
Online Travel Conditions
Please note that prices are subject to change by the operator at any time. We update prices as available to us so we hope to provide you with the best inforamtion and prices. Always check conditions. Using your credit card to book travel through our Online Travel attracts a 2% service charge.
Terms & Conditions of Stay
I agree that I will pay Surfside backpackers the daily room rate for each day of my stay that I am in arrears & any other additional charges up until the time I advise that I have departed from my room/bed. I also agree that Surfside has the right to deny any discounts at any time. I agree to advise Surfside backpackers of any change in the numbers of persons using the room and agree to pay any charges for additional persons. I agree Surfside has the right to keep my passport/belongings until all accounts are paid by myself or those traveling with me. I agree that Surfside Backpackers cannot be responsible for any items lost or stolen during my stay. Surfside Backpackers Pty Ltd takes no responsibility for injuries/death to the undersigned of this form in respect of any activities such as surfing, body boarding, roller blading, snorkeling, body surfing or any ball sports whilst staying at Surfside Backpackers Bondi Beach. Any activities, tours or outside activities either by hire or other means is the guests responsibility for insurance. These include the above listed activities + mountain walking, hang-gliding para-sailing, sky diving, kayaking or any other external activities. Due care shall be taken in all areas of Surfside Backpackers and all guests shall abide by all of our conditions on and off this page. Note: Always swim between the flags and be aware.
I agree to pay for all damages within Surfside including damage to my room & it's contents caused by myself or those with me or those I invite in. I understand check out time is 11am (charges apply if I check out after 11am) & that Surfside does not give refunds, breakups or transfers. I understand my credit card details from paying rent or from my reservation will be used to pay overdue rents & damages for me & those reserved with me. I understand that Surfside has a no noise policy after 11pm. Failure will result in loss of deposit to be repaid & I may be asked to leave without a refund. I understand that if I smoke anywhere inside I will lose my security deposit instantly & it will have to be repaid. I understand that the fire alarm call out charge is $750.00 split between number of guests in the room if no one owns up. I understand that I risk eviction with no refund if I damage or break anything, smoke/prepare drugs anywhere onsite at any time. I understand that throwing up or pissing anywhere but in the toilet costs minimum $200 + cost to clean any other items. I understand that by acting like a dick/idiot/moron/cretin will most likely cause me to be asked to leave with out a refund. Please don't act like a dick!!!!
Smokers: Please respect our property. Your deposit will be instantly lost/or you will be asked to leave without a refund if you smoke anywhere other than the accepted balconies or out of the bedroom windows or doors or if you dispose of butts/ash in any place other than an ashtray or if you stubb cigarettes out on walls or floors of if you throw butts/ash/anything over the balcony or our of any windows or doors.
We want you enjoy your stay here at Surfside, were firm but fair & all conditions are there to keep you, us & the building safe, modern, clean, hygienic and most off all a fun and a great place to be.
Credit Card Payments
Unless indicated on booking form comments all credit cards both credit and debit cards will be charged in the home currency.
